AaFK Fortuna is a women´s football club that plays in the Norwegian 1st division.

The club was founded on August 25th 1991 under the name FK Fortuna Ålesund.

In 1996, the club changed its name to Fortuna Ålesund.

Throughout history, the club has mostly played on the second level in Norway, but got promoted to Toppserien in 2008.

Unfortunately, the following season ended up being a tough one and it ultimately ended with relegation after just three points from 22 games.

The club stayed in the 1st division until 2016, when we were relegated to the 2nd division.

However, it wasn´t all doom and gloom, as Magne Elde lead the team to glory in the J19 cup, defeating Arna-Bjørnar 2-1 in the final.

Before the 2020 season Fortuna Ålesund signed an agreement with Aalesunds Football Club, to insure further development of Fortuna Ålesund. This deal included that Fortuna Ålesund changed its name to AaFK Fortuna, and the team started to play in the same shirts as the men´s team.

Due to the corona pandemic, the 2020 season was cancelled, but football returned in the summer of 2021. The team played and won all of their 9 games that year, and secured the 2nd division title. After also coming through the promotion play-offs against Frigg and Bossekoppen, the club got promoted and was back in the 1st division for the first time since 2016.

In the following season the club finished 6th in the 1st division, before finishing 3rd in 2023 - just outside the promotion play-off place.

On February 17th 2023, the deal with Aalesunds Football Club was extended, with the aim of a closer and improved cooperation.
